During our romantic escape, we found the hostel's location to be perfect. It was conveniently situated near all the attractions we wanted to visit and just a short walk from the train station. The cozy and clean interior of the renovated traditional house added to the charm of our stay. We were thrilled to find a well-equipped kitchen, which allowed us to prepare delicious meals together. the free bicycle rental was a bonus, as it gave us the opportunity to explore the area at our own pace.
Although our experience was delightful overall, there was one minor inconvenience. The placement of the shower on the main floor was a bit awkward as it was located uncomfortably close to the kitchen.

Shared kitchen and lounge: The hostel had a communal kitchen and lounge area that felt like a cozy living room. It was perfect for mingling with other travelers and sharing stories over a cup of coffee from the coffee machine.
Limited bathroom availability.

The rooms at Couch Potato Hostel are cozy and comfortable, with a laid-back vibe. I really liked having a safety deposit box to keep my valuables secure. The coffee machine in the room was a nice touch and helped me start my day with a caffeine fix. The shared bathroom had a bidet and a hairdryer, which made getting ready easy. The hostel provides bed linen, so no need to bring your own. the rooms were well-equipped and made my stay enjoyable.
Personally, I wasn't a fan of the shared bathroom, but it's just my preference.

I stayed at Couch Potato in Matsumoto for 3 nights and had an incredibly comfortable stay. The dorm beds were huge and cozy, with thick curtains for privacy. The tatami floor and futon bedding added to the comfortable atmosphere. The showers had great water pressure and there was even a heater in the changing area. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, making me feel welcome and at home. The location was perfect, close to the castle and shopping street. I made some great friends during my stay and had a memorable experience.
Would recommend this hostel.

Great value for money! The room was spacious and the futon bed was incredibly comfortable - one of the best we've had in Japan. The location was perfect, just a short walk from the stunning Matsumoto castle, and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
The breakfast selection could have been better, maybe with a few more options to choose from.
